APPS’ MAIN OBJECTIVES
Assess the current wellbeing worldwide by collecting, normalizing and computing SDGs Indicators as well as Aggregate Indices
Project SDGs Indicators over time up to 2030 through an extended macro-economic framework, assess if and which countries will meet the SDGs targets and evaluate costs and benefits of corrective policies for sustainability

WHAT ARE THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS?
On 25-27th September 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, based upon 17 SDGs to be achieved worldwide within a global development strategy by 2030.
DEVELOPMENT GOALS MILESTONES
The SDGs are built upon the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in order to fill remaining unsolved gaps in 2015 and address old and new challenges of future development up to 2030.
Where is the World today?
The map below shows the current well-being according to the APPS index, which synthesizes the last available data recorded of 25 SDGs indicators for 139 countries.
Where will the World be in 2030?
Future development may offer opportunities for improving counties’ performances and reducing gaps in SDGs, but can also raise challenges along the path. APPS will provide the assessment of future sustainability under:
- Reference Scenarios: they rely upon historical trends, and differentiated assumptions on future patterns of socio-economic drivers. No policy interventions are considered after 2013
- Policy Scenarios: starting from the Reference scenarios, they consider the implementation of Social Policies for reducing poverty and inequality, food and hunger, and improving health and education status, and Environmental Policies complying to international mitigations targets, and sustainable use of land and water resources. Compared to the reference scenarios, policy scenarios will help understanding the implications of sustainability policies on meeting SDGs.
